Product description
Ultralight Construction Without Compromise
Rim weight has a major influence on the way a bike rides. Lighter wheels accelerate faster, climb more efficiently and require less energy over long distances. That is exactly why the Duke Sierra SLR5 series was developed – to create ultralight gravel rims without compromising durability.
Only a few years ago, a 280 g carbon rim was something reserved exclusively for the most advanced road wheels. Thanks to SLR5 (Super Light Series 5) technology, combining Toray T1100 carbon fibres, aerospace-grade resin and an optimised carbon lay-up, Duke brings this level of lightness to modern gravel riding.
- Sierra 27 – only 280 g
- Sierra 36 – only 335 g
- Sierra 42 – only 375 g
Every gram has been removed where it does not contribute to strength, leaving material exactly where it is needed most. The result is an exceptionally lightweight rim that retains the stiffness, durability and impact resistance required for aggressive gravel riding.
Comfort and Control on Every Surface
Modern gravel demands more than low weight alone. Sierra rims feature DRC (Dynamic Response Comfort)technology, designed to filter vibrations, improve traction and reduce rider fatigue over long distances. Whether you’re riding fast gravel roads, rocky trails or technical descents, Sierra delivers precise handling with confidence and comfort.
Engineered Down to the Smallest Detail
Every Sierra rim incorporates advanced technologies developed by Duke to maximise long-term durability and performance.
- SLR5 (Super Light Series 5) – Duke’s latest carbon construction technology using Toray T1100 fibres and aerospace-grade resin.
- SpokeCore – moulded spoke holes create a more homogeneous rim structure and optimise load distribution.
- Offset – asymmetric rim geometry balances spoke tension, increasing lateral stiffness and wheel stability.
- AntiPinch – specially designed rim beads help reduce the risk of tyre cuts caused by hard impacts.
- VFP (Varnish Free Process) – a clearcoat-free finish that reduces weight while improving surface durability.
- Hooked / Tubeless Ready – full compatibility with modern tubeless systems as well as traditional clincher tyres.
Designed for Modern Gravel Tyres
Sierra rims are engineered around today’s wider gravel tyres, providing optimal tyre support, stability and predictable handling.
- Sierra 27 – 29 mm internal width
- Sierra 36 – 28 mm internal width
- Sierra 42 – 28 mm internal width
Recommended tyre width: 40 mm – 2.2”
Compatible tyre width: 36 mm – 2.4”
The wider internal profile allows lower tyre pressures, improving comfort, grip and control without sacrificing rolling efficiency.
Three Profiles. One Platform.
While every Sierra rim shares the same advanced technology platform, each profile has been optimised for a different riding style.
Duke Sierra 27 – 280 g
The lightest model in the Sierra family. Designed for long-distance adventures, demanding climbs and technical terrain where every gram matters.
Duke Sierra 36 – 335 g
The most versatile Sierra rim. The perfect balance of low weight, aerodynamics and all-round performance for everything from gravel racing to all-day adventures.
Duke Sierra 42 – 375 g
Developed for riders chasing higher average speeds. Its deeper profile delivers greater stability and efficiency on fast gravel roads and high-speed events.
Whichever model you choose, Duke Sierra SLR5 is built on the same advanced technology platform, combining exceptionally low weight with outstanding comfort, precise handling and long-term reliability.
Duke Sierra wasn’t created simply to be lighter. It was created to make every climb easier, every acceleration quicker and every gravel ride more efficient.
